St. John’s Family Health and Urgent Care to offer flu shot clinic today
(Jackson, Wyo.) – St. John’s Medical Center will offer flu shot clinic at the St. John’s Family Health and Urgent Care in the Smith’s Plaza today, November 7 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“Everyone over the age of 6 months should get a flu shot, but this is especially true for high-risk groups including children, people over the age of 65, pregnant women, and people with serious medical conditions like asthma, emphysema, diabetes, and other chronic medical conditions,” said Jim Little, Jr., MD, the medical director of Urgent Care.
Urgent Care has several different options for the vaccine, depending on the age of the patient. These include a spray, a shot, and a high dose especially for patients over 65.
The cost for a regular dose is $30 and the cost for a high dose is $45. No appointment is necessary and walk-ins are welcome. Minors must be accompanied by a guardian.
Each year, experts from Food and Drug Administration (FDA), World Health Organization (WHO), U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other institutions study virus samples collected from around the world. They identify the influenza viruses that are the most likely to cause illness during the upcoming flu season so that people can be protected against them through vaccination.
